This year marks an exciting new chapter in the partnership between NTT DATA and BMW. For the first time, NTT DATA will be the Main Partner of the BMW International Open, Germany’s most prestigious golf tournament, as well as being the official Technology and Innovation Partner for the event. By leveraging our experience from supporting the R&A at The Open since 2013, we can assist BMW in ensuring the tournament comes back with a bang after last year’s cancellation.
This new partnership is just the latest chapter in our rich history of working with BMW. For decades, we have worked with the automotive giant across all manner of projects. Our collaboration has spanned across the globe, and today I’d like to take you through how our partnership evolved into what it is today.
Decades of collaboration
Our partnership with BMW stretches back more than 30 years. It began in the late 80’s with Softlab, a Munich-based IT/Consulting & Product Company, where we started our first projects together with BMW and began developing a long and prosperous relationship.
In 2008, NTT DATA acquired Softlab, now under the name Cirquent, taking a 72.9% stake in the company. This ignited our Automotive business and saw our partnership elevate to the next level. By leveraging our experience in Automotive and technologies, our partnership can help us shape the future of Automotive & Mobility services and environmental sustainability.
A global relationship
NTT DATA’s partnership with BMW consists of collaboration from all over the world, we have a strong workforce around the globe and are very close to the major international sites of BMW. Naturally, a great deal of our work has been done in Germany.
By drawing on expertise from across the wider NTT group, we have been able to provide innovative solutions for BMW across a multitude of projects. Our global focus is to support BMW during their digital journey, which is assisted by having a deep understanding of the complete value chain in Automotive. We provide support in key areas including Classical IT, Business Digitisation and Connected Car-Initiatives. Our work has ranged from Automotive practices, Innovation & Digital Platforms and Agile Transformations, through to Cloud Services, Security & Infrastructure and electric vehicles.
The BMW International Open
After decades of collaboration, our partnership is evolving even further with this year’s BMW International Open. Both NTT DATA and BMW are passionate about sport, so it was a natural decision to expand the partnership to the BMW International Open in Munich. Together, we are aiming to transform the fan experience and shape the future of sports through technology.
